The sponsorship campaign in Kurdistan
The sponsorship campaign of families and Kurd orphan children
comes about through the purpose of helping the refugee fields
and the villages of Kurdistan, after the deportation and
the slaughter of thousands people. For long years the extermination
of the Kurds was perpetrated in every state (Iraq, Iran,
Turkey and Syria). This initiative wants to answer in a
concrete way to the requests of help and solidarity with
the Kurd people that at the present day is in a very dramatic
situation.
Till now, more than 60 families that live in the refugee
fields of “Dara tu”, “Shorosh”,
“Takia” and “Smud” in dire need,
have been adopted. The sponsorship campaign has the purpose
of granting to the majority of refugee families in Kurdistan
a minimum financial fund sufficient to their survival. The
general standards of adoption have been established together
with the members of the Kurd branch of Azadì. Within
every field, those who are adopted are people in very need
of economical support. The families of “Martyres”,
fallen fighting for liberation or missing because of the
Anfal operation, are helped. These families are indicated
by local organization of voluntary service and solidarity
and by the members of the committee Azadì in Kurdistan.
To sponsor a family, it is necessary to pay a monthly minimum
due (actually fixed to 13,00 Euro) to the Azadì Association
for a year long. You can sponsor one or more families. The
Association gets the monthly dues locally and allow them
to arrive to the Azadì Committee in Kurdistan. The
members of the committee will deliver directly to the “sponsored”
families the dues. The presence of a Kurd branch of the
committee is essential to establish a direct and continuous
contact between the families and their supporters, through
the exchange of letters, photos, little gifts, and so on.
In the 1996 trip in Kurdistan, these letters were distressed
by the police, but our purpose is to keep on helping the
Kurd families in the villages and in the refugee fields,
granting their survival. Aids are destined for buying books
and exercise-books for children, because it is necessary
to give continuity to the language and culture of the Kurd
people.
